Amalgamated Specialties Corporation or AMSPEC, was established in August 21, 1963 and is part of the Rennolds Group Managed Companies founded in 1927. Amspec manufactures and distributes school and office items nationwide. Most of its products have become household names in the industry. Who among us would not know what “Mongol”, “Crayola” and “Magic Touch” are? Mongol has become the byword for pencil, which is what Crayola is to crayons and Magic Touch is to correction fluid, and Lotus, The leading brand of writing instruments. Other products include Super Sharpie - the best known brand in America for permanent markers, Old Town carbon paper, Higgins drafting ink, Magic glue, Amspec Bond paper, Li’l Hands Arts & Crafts products and recently, Mongol for Kids, Mongol Sharpener, Crayola Chalks, Lotus Techpen, New Lotus Regular, Magic Colored Pencil, Li’l Hands Tempera Watercolor , Li’l Hands Craft Scissors among others. AMSPEC products are advertised regularly on television, radio, newspapers and magazines. The company strongly believes in the power of advertising. Consequently, Amspec is an active member of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) and of the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA). The AMSPEC factory is located at Km. 21, South Super Highway, Muntinlupa City. Every year, around 300,000 students visit the factory as part of the schools system educational tour. The students, mostly grade schoolers, experience the magic of making their favorite pencils and crayons - right before their very eyes.
